Arctic Essentials

"There is a slumbering subterranean fire in nature which never goes out, and which no cold can chill." Henry David Thoreau

Sami Culture is based on a distinctive, close relationship with nature. This culture has been shaped by a landscape which has made unusual demands on the people who through generations have  built their  lives here and sought to make a living from the Arctic Ocean, the Fjords and the Tundra.

The Arctic expeditions programme takes us deep into the Norwegian Arctic Circle to the far north region of Finmark close to the Russian border.
In this vast wilderness of snow covered mountain plateaus, forests and lakes, you will learn and experience practical
hands-on training covering the essential traditional and modern wilderness skills for adventure within the arctic environment including building and using snow caves, ice fishing, reindeer preparation, dog sledding, snowshoeing and navigation skills in addition to tracking and trapping.
